This post is dedicated to Hecho and Co. a brand which, in these strange and sometimes unbelievable times, made me feel close to home. Hecho and Co. work fairly and closely with artisans in Oaxaca, Mexico to create beautiful handwoven garments called Huipiles. Comfortable, beautiful, with details that turn these garments into wearable art.
It has been 16 days in quarantine. I only leave to go to the studio. My husband drives me there when I need to. I know how to drive but I do not have a license in Switzerland, it’s comfortable to be driven places despite feeling, sometimes, like I am missing fractions of independence.
After 16 days we left the house together to get some air. We drove (he drove) to a forest not far from where we live and we stopped at an open field. We needed the openness. We felt the sun, we felt the air although we never forgot the whole world is different.
As we drove back home I spotted a fox. He was sitting down, perhaps hunting and when he saw us he lowered his body to become one with the grass. We looked at it for a few minutes before it left and disappeared in the forest.
In collaboration with Roger Bucher, this self-portrait showcases L’OCCITANE’s novelty Overnight Reset Eye Serum. We wanted to evoke the night by posing a Nachtfalter on my shoulder as I lay asleep in a bed of flowers. The flowers resemble the hues of the flask as the yellow pops in between like it does in the product. “You Have Beautiful Eyes” I heard in my dreams.
The following images are a series of Still lifes showcasing L’OCCITANE’s IMMORTELLE RESET SERUM, a favorite of mine. I wanted to include their products in my usual setting and pay tribute to a brand I have long loved.
We took the car to a spot where we’ve been before. Close to the river, not a lot of passersby. We picked one of the coldest days of winter to go out but it didn’t matter. The sun was out.
