The Red of Pyne

It has been 16 days in quarantine. I only leave to go to the studio. My husband drives me there when I need to. I know how to drive but I do not have a license in Switzerland, it’s comfortable to be driven places despite feeling, sometimes, like I am missing fractions of independence.

After 16 days we left the house together to get some air. We drove (he drove) to a forest not far from where we live and we stopped at an open field. We needed the openness. We felt the sun, we felt the air although we never forgot the whole world is different.

As we drove back home I spotted a fox. He was sitting down, perhaps hunting and when he saw us he lowered his body to become one with the grass. We looked at it for a few minutes before it left and disappeared in the forest.
